Yen Wulin Alaska Chinese School

About

The Alaska Chinese Association has run the Yen Wulin Alaska Chinese School since 1984. Our school is open to the public and provides a nurturing environment for all those who want to learn the Chinese language, specifically Mandarin. Our principal and staff are all volunteers, and tuition fees go toward facility rental, teaching supplies, and transportation costs.

*Regardless of whether you register online or in person, please arrive at 6:00 pm on September 5th, 2025 in the Multi-Purpose Room for classroom assignment and orientation. You can register in-person at that time as well. If you are unable to attend the first class on September 5th, please contact the principal to receive your classroom assignment.

We currently offer five classes:

Each class covers speaking and comprehension, as well as reading and writing in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. If you're unsure which class is the best fit for you or your child, simply choose the one that seems most appropriate. Our instructors will assess placement and adjust class levels as needed to ensure the right fit.

Classes follow the Anchorage School District calendar and are held on Fridays from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm at the Asian Alaskan Cultural Center, located inside Northwood Elementary School.
